What should a workplace first aid kit include?
The majority of workplace first aid kits should include plasters, eye dressings, triangular bandages, safety pins, assorted dressings, wipes and gloves. What should not be in a workplace first aid kit?
Workplace first aid kits have different requirements to a first aid kit that you would find at home, but in particular there is one item that should not be added to a workplace first aid kit. That is any tablets and medication, because these are unique and individual to each person. Employees can bring medication or tablets to work with them, but staff are not allowed to provide them with any in case of a negative reaction.

Is a first aid kit a legal requirement?
According to the HSE it is the employer’s obligation to provide suitable provisions for first aid, whether that be just a first aid kit or a first aid room. The type, size and number of first aid kits required will largely depend on the findings of your risk assessment, but it is imperative to have at least one first aid kit available at all times, even for staff working away from the office.
